Teracopy: Copy files fast

Ever tried copying a couple of gig of files for backup leaving the computer on over night and thinking it will be done when you get back, only to find out the next day that windows copy encountered an error from the first few files and did not copy at all.

Or when it did made a copy but encountered an error in the middle of process and you don't know  which files where copied and which were not. Do you just recopy for a couple of hours or just find out which files were and copy them manually one by one.

To avoid such trouble why not try using Teracopy. A program that will replace the default windows copy and does a much better job at it too.

Encountered a file copy error it will ask you what to do, if your not around to choose it will skip the file giving trouble and goes on with its job. Over writing files are a lot easier too, it lets you choose to skip existing files and add only newer files for each folder (Great for backups).

from their site:

Copy your files faster and easier

TeraCopy is a compact program designed to copy and move files at the maximum possible speed, providing the user with a lot of features:
  • Copy files faster. TeraCopy uses dynamically adjusted buffers to reduce seek times. Asynchronous copy speeds up file transfer between two physical hard drives.
  • Pause and resume file transfers. Pause copy process at any time to free up system resources and continue with a single click.
  • Error recovery. In case of copy error, TeraCopy will try several times and in the worse case just skip the file, not terminating the entire transfer.
  • Interactive file list. TeraCopy shows failed file transfers and lets you fix the problem and recopy only problem files.
  • Shell integration. TeraCopy can completely replace Explorer copy and move functions, allowing you work with files as usual.
  • Full Unicode support.
  • Windows 7 x64 support.
Try it.
