TiddlyWiki: a personal wiki notebook
Like keeping notes on your computer but sucks at finding them once you need them. Try tiddlywiki it organizes all your notes, ideas or web snippets on a single html file and you don't even need to be online.
You can store it on a flash drive, your computer or email it to your self as a backup so that you can open it when ever you are online. I keep all my how to's there when I need to remember things or procedures that are just too tedious to commit to memory or things I simply can't remember or forgotten. Also when ever I find things of interest like good websites (many bookmarks have been lost to a single virus or reformat), Programs, a tutorial or just any bit of information like birthdays or reminders I would likely put it in my own tiddly. The search feature is awesome.
It will require a bit of editing to make it your own and by default it is not encrypted (can be with a little plugin) so try not to put passwords or things that are too confidential. You will regret it if you ever lost your flash drive.
All in all It really serves a good digital notebook and journal. I have been using it for years and most of the things that I will post here will be coming from my trusty old tiddly wiki.
